Art That Connects Family

Since December, I have started to explore yet another medium for my creative outlet –  basketry. But I have not taken this journey alone. My mother and daughter have also joined in to discover the art and joy of working with their hands in creating small precious works. We have worked with cedar strips that have been cultivated by our teacher, Judy Zugish, and now are exploring the use of long pine needles in the technique of coiling baskets, taught to me by Michele Morton. Both teach at the Shack Art Center in Everett.

This experience has truly been a joy and it makes my heart happy to see my family enjoying learning and experimenting with the materials. Art is healing and it also brings us together. We all need this outlet in our lives to connect, center ourselves and expand our minds.
